Three Ponds Vineyards, Broke, Hunter Valley
100% chambourcin, an interesting hybrid black grape that makes robust, deeply coloured red wines. Chambourcin tolerates the hot and humid conditions of the Hunter Valley very well!
From the outstanding 2017 Vintage. Machine harvested in February 2017. Fermented in stainless steel tanks, with regular hand plunging. It then underwent malolactic fermentation and maturation in French oak barriques for 18 months and the finished wine was bottled in November 2018. The charmat method for the secondary fermentation.
Deep red in colour and has lifted red berry fruits, spice and cinnamon characters. The fruit driven palate has a fine tannin finish and will compliment any good hearty meal. The beads are fine, with a creamy mousse.
Shall continue to develop complexity and aged characters for at least 20 years.
Cheese boards. Steaks. Game meats. Rich pasta sauces. Chocolates or chocolate cake. Or drink on its own!
