TROPHY WINNER
2013 Clear Image Hunter Valley Wine:
Current Vintage – Dry White Wine – Alternate White Varietals & Blends – Any Vintage
Ahh, so romantic, picked on Valentine’s Day 2013. Fiano isn’t a trailblazing variety in the Hunter Valley, yet, but sheesh, there’s a few that look pretty good on closer inspection. I reckon a bit more work on texture and the variety could be a real humdinger. Certainly, this wine looked very good at the recent Hunter Valley Wine Show 2013…
It’s sort of tropical fruity in aromas but there’s peanut shell and cashew nuttiness in the mix too. Flavours run the same way though it’s a bit pithier to taste, and there’s a bit of chalky grip and, as said, it would be nice to see more of this giving structure, but there’s enough to have the palate hanging on. Finishes crisp and steely-mineral like, the wine light yet very tight and precise. Delicious drinking.

Bright straw green in colour. Lifted lemon and lime on the fresh and lively nose with some ginger spice; quite lean. One taster said the nose was reminiscent of aged Reisling. Lovely line and great interest on the palate which has good phenolics.
