This is our first-ever shiraz released as a museum release.
The name ‘Three Ponds’ originates from our three year-old son, Theodore; he thought the three dams on our family vineyard were ponds when he saw ducks swimming on them one afternoon. A well structured Shiraz with abundant flavour, showing rich bramble fruit with classic pepper and spice. Careful cellaring will provide additional rich developed characters of tobacco and leather.

Very youthful purple-red; a fresh and clean black cherry bouquet flows into an attractive, sweet cherry and plum palate with soft tannins and minimal oak. Has developed superbly over the past 12 months.

Shiraz and other reds at Broke
The Three Ponds Vineyard was once also planted to shiraz, cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc. The shiraz vines were planted in 1970 but regrettably age wearied them and they needed to be retired. We have kept two rows for posterity. Our cabernets at Broke unfortunately ripened too late in the season and fell prey to hungry birds that ran out of other grapes to munch. Fortunately subsequent purchases of Holman Estate and Honeytree Estate have meant Mount Eyre Vineyards has excellent parcels of black grapes with which to produce premium red wines.
