Light cherry red in colour with primary aromas of ripe fresh raspberry and cherry. The palate is soft and round with lovely “cherry ripe” characters, medium weight tannins which are ripe. There is a satisfying round finish with clove notes at the end. Drinking well now to 2 years.

Nero D'Avola, the Hunter's Sicilian immigrant
With ancient Greek origins, this grape varietal has been made famous in Sicily. The name Nero D'Avola means "black from Avola", Avola being a town just south of Syracuse. In Italy, it is now considered a noble grape varietal. Nero d'Avola has been in Australia for about 20 years now, with Mount Eyre Vineyards bringing it to the Hunter Valley a decade ago. Nero d'Avola performs well in hot, dry climates, making it suited to Hunter conditions. Our first vintage was 2013.
